Congrats to our 2023 Hillcrest Elementary PTA Scholarship Recipient: Matthew Crowley
Matthew Crowley, a graduating senior from Downers Grove South, has been awarded the Hillcrest Elementary PTA Scholarship worth $1,000. He will be attending Clemson University in the fall and pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in energy engineering. Matthew’s career aspiration is to introduce innovative energy-sourcing options into the alternative energy market and challenge the status quo of electric vehicles.
In addition to his academic achievements, Matthew is an avid soccer player and has played both at the high school and travel club level. He has also been actively involved in volunteering for various causes. He has served as a volunteer for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk for a Cure on the Field Logistics team, Student Election Judge at the DuPage County Election Division, and Race Packet Coordinator for the Bonfield Express 5k.
Matthew’s outstanding academic record, involvement in extracurricular activities, and dedication to community service make him a deserving recipient of the Hillcrest Elementary PTA Scholarship. Congratulations Matthew!
$1,000 to a Qualifying High School Senior
Committee Chair: Erin Menet
Each year, one Hillcrest Elementary alumnus will receive a one-time $1,000 scholarship to supplement tuition or other educational needs. Representatives of the Hillcrest Elementary PTA choose the recipient based upon a holistic set of criteria.
To qualify, a senior must:
- Have attended Hillcrest Elementary School for a minimum of three years
- Be graduating from an Illinois high school
- Have already received acceptance to a college, university, or vocational program
