Partners In Art

Committee Chairs: Maria Brummel, Katelyn Whoriskey and Rebecca Hardman

The program was executed virtually in the 2020-21 school year, we are working with Mrs. Rzepka to determine what is feasible for the 2021-22 school year. Stay tuned for updates and volunteer opportunities – there is no experience required to volunteer to teach a lesson in your child’s classroom!

Partners In Art is a PTA-funded art appreciation program that has been educating Hillcrest students for over fifteen years. What started out as an adjunct to the Art Volunteers in the Classroom seminars at The Art Institute of Chicago has grown to a program with 25 annual volunteers who do over 120 presentations in a school year. Our presentations last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and we present to each class six times a year. Most of our prints, which are hanging in the gallery outside of the Hillcrest Gym, are in the collection of The Art Institute of Chicago but we have also added works of art outside of the AIC collection to give the kids a well-rounded arts education. We always aim to make it fun for the kids with great hands-on projects that coincide with the artwork being presented.
